Immediate Temporary Closure Due to Distemper (CDV) Outbreak

Effective immediately, Memphis Animal Services (MAS) is temporarily closing to all intake and to the public as we continue efforts to manage the ongoing Distemper (CDV) outbreak. This decision is made out of an abundance of caution to protect the health and well-being of the animals in our care, as well as the broader community.

This closure will allow our team to focus on providing the highest level of care to the animals currently in the shelter and take all necessary steps to manage the situation. We will reassess the status on Wednesday and provide updates as more information becomes available.

During this time, Animal Control Officers will continue responding to calls involving dangerous or vicious animals, as well as reports of sick or injured animals.

We recognize the difficulties this presents for the community and appreciate your patience and understanding as we prioritize the health and safety of our animals. Our team is committed to resolving this situation as quickly and responsibly as possible.
